When a person chooses to go into hip hop and they find themselves driven with no support, they are referred to as independent. Being an independent artist means learning to do a little bit of everything. Rich Kidd definitely resonates with the struggle, as the Toronto talent is a rapper, producer, and video director.
In the end, Rich Kidd managed to work independent to his advantage and he began working with some heavy-hitters. Most associate Rich Kidd primarily with Drake, but he has also produced for Busta Rhymes, Raekwon, and a few others. Last year, he released his album with SonReal, The Closers.
Last month, we had the fortune of running into Rich Kidd at the 2013 A3C Hip Hop Festival in Atlanta. He gave Hip Hop Vibe an interview and he spoke on the age old majors vs. indie debate, working with Drake, and the Toronto hip hop scene. There is a lot going on in the city of Toronto.
